Friendship takes courage Volume 1 Ofir Mor 9781492767282 Books
When I first checked this book out, I was surprised by the length. Children’s books aren’t usually really long, but this is a great one. It features a great mix of narratives and compelling children’s messages through a variety of characters. At first I was reminded of “Rocko’s Modern Life”, and at other times I was reminded of some comic books from Vertigo, with the weird and uncanny art style. This is a good, nuanced little book. I love the message, and absolutely love the drawings. They are squiggly and just cute. Ofir Mor presents a very good children’s book about friendship. It’s one of the better examples of children’s literature out right now. I love that it’s not too polished, it lends a certain intangible quality to it. Kids will love it, grownups will enjoy it, and it’s well worth the asking price. Share it with someone you love.

This book is very unique, humorous, imaginative and very well presented
It has a very compelling children's message through a variety of unique characters.
My favorite character was Joy because Joy brought the planet back to harmony, silliness, bravery andcourageous. The planet needed to feel again because the planet was loosing hope, faith and losing his heart light. Very cute children's book. My daughter loved the pictures and she's not even a year old yet.
Great for kids 7-11 and can be read out loud as young as 5
I really liked it would recommend
I loved everything about this book and so did my grandkids. And, if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me! The quality of the illustrations is truly exceptional. It's very obvious that this author loves doing what he does. It's imaginative and very well presented. Absolutely deserves 5 Stars!
This wonderful story will permit you to reflect inwards in a fun and gentle way while offering opportunities for meaningful dialogue between parents and their children. I appreciate the author's effort and wish him every success with this very worthwhile effort!
This would make an excellent addition to any child's digital library. I'd also recommend it for middle-aged kids like me!
The book is geared towards children ages 7-11. While I was reading the book, I found it to have very good morals/values, but also took some concentration to grasp what the author was portraying to the reader. The book has many vivid illustrations to go along with the story, which were very captivating. The book was about friendship - as the title leads to. The book leads you on a journey of your emotions. The ages the book is geared toward is a great age, since this is when children are learning more about friendships - courage, anger, sadness, etc. The main character "Joy" helps us (the readers) learn about the courage to find out who we are, about emotions, why we should overcome fear/be courageous, and how courage and friendship can go together. When you get the e-book, there are also free downloads of posters/background images with quotes on courage, definitions of friendship by Joy, and silly quotes. You should definitely check out this book!
Bedtime reading that will sweep you away!
I bought this book for my two twin boys, (age 3) the other night and am on my 4th go around reading this book. They simply love it and can’t get enough of the beautiful illustrations that are vividly colorful. The cover drew me in to this book from the beginning. Unfortunately, I did not notice that it was 76 pages in length, nor that it is written best for children of ages 5 plus.
However, with that said, I found it to be amazingly written and both my kids love it. For me, this is a plus, because the story divulges into deeper meanings that while fun, provides an educational foundation the deals with a problem every child faces at one point or another in their young lives. That problem is fear, and above all being able to find your inner courage that will overcome that fear. Author Ofir Mor has done a splendid job of putting together all of the pieces that will help your child look at their own fear, anger and happiness in a different light. She does this with a great storyline that is unique and original especially in developing a new figurative world we come to know as “planet Water Bright.” The story flows with ease making for a quick read that is perfect for bedtime.
5 Stars
Friendship Takes Courage delivers an important message to its targeted audience of seven to eleven year olds. The seventy-eight page book might first appear as a comic book because the images are offbeat and quirky. Don't be deceived. There is a substantial amount of text on each page connecting the characters and spreading the title's message.
Initially, the author introduces the characters and the setting named planet Water-Bright. Water-Bright is a water planet with a few islands floating on top. A magical light shines from below and touches the heart of all creatures who live there. Presently, the light from its five suns is fading. The inhabitants had taken the magical light for granted, they stopped being brave, no longer shared or loved each other. Now the heart of the planet waited for a special day to arrive when all five suns were aligned and a special creature would be born. On that day a creature named Joy was born. He had no fears and set about the planet to meet and make friends. So began the process of restoring Water-Bright to its former state and its inhabitants to their rightful place in it.
The author does a good job of explaining the value of friendship, courage, bravery and generosity and the importance of each virtue in our community. These comical characters will appeal to children. I did have a problem with the size of the text. It was difficult to read and reluctant readers or children with disabilities might be turned off by it. The book is a bit long for a read-aloud though the illustrations could be enjoyed by children of all ages. Overall, the book is recommended for grades three through five though adults as well will appreciate the care that the author takes in crafting his message.
