This book will cause visceral reactions. It deals with some very strong subjects that can be difficult to read.
I spent a good portion of this book mad. Mad at the author. Mad at the characters. There were so many times I wanted to just quit reading the book but then couldn't put it down.
As an author myself I can appreciate the skill that it takes to elicit those kinds of feelings from a reader so while I wanted to put it down it just drew me in even more.
This is not a feel good thriller but it does have many thrilling points throughout the story. The heroine is thrust into a life altering situation which I expected to be glossed over as a lot of authors tend to do but not in this case. You're taken along for the entire gut retching ordeal and then through the aftermath of the traumatic event.
I only wish that this book would have been a self-contained unit in the series. I like series but prefer that each book have a clear defined ending. This is book one in the journey of the heroine's life that may span unknown books.
If you want a book that gets your blood pumping and causes internal debates then this is a book you need to read.

Long Lost The Charlotte Hayes Series Book 1 edition by SS Lange Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
I enjoyed reading this book, did not enjoy the language. It would have been more enjoyable without so much of the F word.Good story line and mystery but don't like the way it ended.Have to buy the other books to find out what happened.
Sharp, edgy, fast paced action, and very intense subject matter. This book is not for the faint of heart. This must be my first book by Lange, as I am sure I would have remembered reading her before. You don't just finish this story and move on to the next, you literally digest it. This story has everything a thriller junkie is looking for; sex, violence, compassion, suspense, and it's well written to boot. Kudos to Lange.
Charlotte Hayes is an exciting character who keeps readers glued waiting to see what will happen next. Lange is on her way to become a best selling author.
It was a little too realistic I almost had to book the book down but the author had me. I just had to know does half sister Jen and Charlotte mend fences? Does Jen change her life around? Does she become FBI agent? Does she hunt him down n kill her attacker...torn put the book down or get a answers (so realistic n heart wrenching) or get to the end....then dropped...I need to know the rest of the story...I would say cliff hanger..
Long Lost is the first in a series about Charlotte Hayes. While visiting her long lost sister in Minnesota, the two wind up in trouble. Big trouble. Charlotte is emotionally scarred from the event, which was difficult to read. Much of the second half of the novel deals with the ramifications of the event and her raw journey to recovery. Charlotte has even larger problems looming over her. She is being targeted by a gangster with a grudge. Long Lost does a great job establishing the characters in this series and lays the groundwork for a larger story arc that will continue at least into the next book. Charlotte is a very real character with issues that are not easily resolved. S.S. Lang has created a series with great potential. It should be noted that the book is sometimes harrowing and the language is pretty strong.
The conversations between characters are similar to that of a poorly-scripted soap opera. These "long lost" sisters had me cringing every time they acted "sisterly". It was just too unbelievable and annoying. I've reunited with long lost relatives and, just no. With that said, the female MC was trash I didn't care about her revenge, and the plot was riddled with holes.
I gave it my best shot, the cover is interesting while the story feels contrived. Another reviewer summed it up well This was written for a teenaged-girl. I gave it 2 stars because I liked the idea of a bad@$$ female heroine. Execution just needed help.
Nice. Charlotte is developed in innocence, tried by fire, and pushed reluctantly over and over again into the broil of pain that she never saw coming.
You'll appreciate the pain she suffers, because she uses it as fuel for her revenge. It just takes a long time and lots of chapters to see her make progress. Not the quickest-paced novel on the shelf, but clues and hints come along just when needed in order to keep returning to this read.
Surely this was written as an intended series, what with the non-ending ending.
Sexually graphic, misogynist behavior throughout - if you enjoy the crude and vulgar actions of amoral punks and the upstanding forces of anti-crime set to bring them to justice, along with our heroine and her massive chip on her shoulder, give this one a go. Just be ready for the tried-and true love interest woven into nary each chapter, for balance I suppose.
